According to the FBI, a woman is battered every
15-18 seconds and approximately one third of female murder
victims are killed by their husband or boyfriend in the United States.
Domestic violence occurs in an estimated 4 million intimate
relationships each year in the United States and it has been
reported that domestic violence causes more injury to women than
cancer, heart attack, or stroke.
In this prevention workshop /
training we will explore the
following:
- Domestic Violence: An Overview (Statistics and
Victims)
- Domestic Violence and It’s Impact on Women
- Domestic Violence and It’s Impact on Children
- Domestic Violence and Male Victims
- Domestic Violence and African Americans
- What Can You Do? (Victim, Friend or Family Member)
- How Can We Address this Problem Effectively?
- Local and National Resources
This comprehensive workshop includes: training and
presentation materials and Q&A Session. Audience
participation is encouraged.
