Resurrecting Your Joy

“Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he is risen.”
Luke 24: 5-6

Mourning has a way of sucking life out of you until you become a walking zombie. It’s almost as if life loses its color, and it takes all the strength you can muster to do simple things.

What you may not know is that God did not intend for you to live in black and white. He did not intend for you to exist in the midst in despair. He did not design life for you to nurse guilt, disappointment and grief forever. The Bible says, “to everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven.” There is a season for you to grieve, and a time for you to get back up and live.

It’s time for you to walk into your new season of joy. Here’s how:

Surround yourself with positive people–People can either pour into you or take from you. During your season of restoration, it is vital that you surround yourself with positive people. Get rid of those negative people who don’t have the strength to get up themselves, and they don’t want you to do so either. Positive people are like water to dry soil. They give you the spiritual nourishment you need to help you get back up.

Read devotions–It is important that you saturate yourself with God’s word because it provides an answer to everything you may be feeling. Grief, loss, fear, pain, God’s response to all of those emotions is within the pages of the holy book.

Exercise and eat right–Believe it or not, eating right and exercising will work wonders on your attitude, outlook on life, and overall disposition. A diet rich in fruits and vegetables, grains and lean meats provide the proper vitamins and nutrients you will need to help balance you internally. Exercise provides the boost in endorphins you need to help regulate your moods, improve your focus, as well as all of your internal organs.

These are just three things you can do to help you resurrect your joy. There is no better time than the present to make the changes you need to move from despair to joy. Are you ready?
