A Thanksgiving Prayer

Good and gracious Father. We come before you this morning on behalf of families of the missing, those who are waiting and those who mourn. We know that today is a difficult day because they will spend it without their loved ones. Let them know that it is through you that their strength and their help comes.

God, today we ask for your presence. Let them feel your presence as they go about their tasks today. Let them feel your presence so they know they do not walk this difficult path alone. Let them know you are there. God, we also ask for your peace. We know the peace that comes from you surpasses all understanding, and that, even in the midst of this storm, peace is salve that will help them cope. God, pour your strength into every person reading this prayer. Your strength is what will allow them to endure whether or not word about their missing loved one is revealed.

Lord, place your supportive angels around the families, people who help pray them through and support them in all ways possible. Fortify those who support the family right now, in the name of Jesus, and pour into them your word that they must say to offer comfort, and your strength that they must pass along to their mourning friend.

You are Jehovah Jire, our Provider, who will resurrect their joy, give them a reason to smile and help them to find peace and purpose again. God we are thankful for you. We are thankful for your perfect peace, your grace that gets us through, your abounding love for us, and, above all, your presence. Lord, we thank you. We honor you. We love you. Let thy will, not our will, be done in all things.

In the precious and matchless name of Jesus Christ do we pray,

Amen and thank God.
