Fair Coverage for All: The Media Guide for Reporting on Missing Persons Cases

The Media Guide for Reporting on Missing Persons was developed by the Black and Missing Foundation (BAMFI) and the Washington Association of Black Journalists (WABJ) and provides practical steps for newsrooms to ensure equitable reporting and strengthen accountability. For too long, missing persons of color have been overlooked or underreported by mainstream media. This lack of coverage impacts the urgency, resources, and public awareness needed to bring loved ones home.
