Location Last Seen: On March 4, 1989, Shirley Gibbs Russell, a captain in the United States Marine Corps, disappeared from her officers' quarters on the Quantico, Virginia, military base. Shirley had separated from her husband just a few weeks earlier. Though living separately, they returned the weekend of March 4th to the apartment they had shared on base to finish moving out.

Circumstances of Disappearance: On May 3, 1991, her husband, Robert Peter Russell, was subsequently charged and convicted of her murder in U.S. District Court in Alexandria, Virginia. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole. However, Shirley's body has never been found.
